Historical decision, Finnish parliament votes for NATO application

188 votes from MPs were given in favour of the application, and eight were against, and three have abstained.
Parliament approval means that the president and government can already take steps to conduct the formal application process, possibly Tuesday.
On Sunday, President Saul Niinsto and Prime Minister Sanna Marin announced that Finland will seek to join the Alliance. The issue was later moved to Parliament for a long debate that began Monday and followed by a vote.
In all, 212 talks were delivered in Parliament during the plenary session that lasted for 14 hours.
This vote was called historic by former Finland Prime Minister Alexander Stubbb, who also released this news on Twitter.
