The fourteenth Witness of Salih Mustafa's defense, Teuta Hadri, has said that she has spent three days in the village of Zlath on April 16, 1999, providing medical assistance to the wounded. She has told the court that on the third day they have taken the wounded and civilians out of the area because of the start of the offensive, where she has even met Salih Mustafen, whom she has known only as Kali commander. Hadri said there were no banned people in Zlath, nor guards around the houses where they stayed.
Witness Hadri said that the offensive in that area had begun on April 18, 1999.
“Ofensiva started on April 18th, started in the morning and we were informed by the soldiers, didn't come out of the commanders, they made their own arrangements, and they warned medocinal technicians to get ready that Serbs are coming, big forces, and started the promotions on April 18th morning and we were arranged, the soldiers at the first point, we were told doctors to step out at the second point where there are injuries to pull back and give them a hand away.
Hadri has said he had met Salih Mustaf for the first time in offensive.
I first saw the night before the offensive, and the day mainly as Cali I understood on the offensive day, the night before only as a soldier The NLA dressed like all the other soldiers who attended it in the backyard when they walked we greeted them as military. And on the 18th day of the offensive, I only understood by his nickname, Cali, I asked the soldiers because Cal was a skilled pedant commander, that boy had left his freedom, instead of running to Germany he was coming there to protect the citizens, protecting the army, with food supplies with drugs, all of that was the organization of the KLA soldiers. In 18 I asked when the big offensive was made, I asked who this guy was, there I realized it was Cali”, Hadri said.
On the other hand, Hadri has claimed that at that time he had known Salih Mustaf only by the name of Cali, and when the indictment was established, he understood his real name.
“Publicly I thank Cal and the KLA soldiers because thanks to them today I am alive, in the body they have made to protect us, health personnel, wounded and civilians, for helping them have given”, she said.
Teuta Hadri, who is a professional doctor, will continue her testimony by answering the prosecution's questions.
Mustafa was arrested on September 24, 2020, with the claim of war crimes.
According to the Specialised Chambers “The confirmed indictment stipulates that approximately between April 1st 1999 and April 19, 1999, at a detention complex in Zlatko, Kosovo, arbitrary detention crimes, cruel treatment and torture against at least six persons” were committed. Also, in the indictment it is said that “in a date between April 19, 1999, or about this date, and about the end of April 1999, a banned “was killed at that location.
Salih Mustafa is staying in custody at The Hague, while in his appearance before the court he has been declared innocent.
