German MP thinks Kosovo's KiE application will result in success

Bundestag MP Knut Abraham has called Kosovo's decision to apply for the Council of Europe right, and has expressed confidence that this process will ultimately result in success. “
“I think that the Kosovo government's decision to apply for membership in the Council of Europe is exactly fair”, Kran Kosova has said. “It's the right time for the launch of this process and I'm convinced that eventually it's going to be successful”.
“Basically, the situation is such that the federal government is joining us in supporting Kosovo's membership in KiE”.
Abraham said that Kosovo friends are working together in Kosovo's best interests, and that something good will come out of this.
“We will see this coming Friday 20 May when the Council's ministerial community meets in Turin, Italy”.
Thus, even the Italian government plays an important role because pre-<x1) points can be placed at this meeting.
This is a long process, and which will be successful when many of Kosovo's friends work together”.
This applies to Italy, but many others also support Germany”.
Despite differences between the position and opposition in Germany, Abraham says when it comes to Kosovo's application they are above party affiliation for the job. It's parliament's role to put certain pressure on this point. We in Bundestag are on party affiliation in supporting Kosovo's application. Then it is the government's duty to escort this process” into diplomatic, administrative, and technical channels.
“But even in Belgrade it should be understood that it is Kosovo's right as a sovereign and European state to apply to the Council of Europe”.
“Therefore, this is not a matter of Serbia's national security, but it is the work of a democratic institution in Europe to rule according to the rules whether Kosovo can become a member or not. There are no vetoes from Belgrade” in this matter.
The administrative and political processes are not easy, but I think the period of one year. A week later we will have the meeting of the KiE Committee of Ministers, and a year later, such a meeting in this period could take steps leading to the final decision”.
So it was the right time and time that your government started this process otherwise there would be a danger that the whole process could begin after a year”.
