The German emissary for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, has said the European Union must pay pledges to Western Balkan countries, abolishing Kosovo's visa regime and opening membership negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia.
“Opening membership negotiations [with Albania and Northern Macedonia] and visa liberalisation [for Kosovo] are important in these historic moments, as well as underlining the credibility of the EU”, Sarrazin said during a forum in Serbia.
He also said that when it comes to visa liberalisation, his state is ready to provide a concrete answer.
“Visa liberalisation for Kosovo is important because it underlines EU credibility. We should never lose this option”
Sarrazin added that EU integration also means approaching Western Balkan countries with common security and EU foreign policy.
The German emissary today has been received in Serbia by Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, who announced Sarrazzin's first official visit to Serbia in his official account at the Instagram.
