Elizabeth Borne, France's new prime minister

French President Emmanuel Macron today chose Labour Minister Elizabeth Borne as the country's new prime minister, Elysee announced. Borne (61) thus became the first woman in this position since 1992. Its knowledge of the internal work of the state and French trade unions will help it pass already announced reforms, including Macron's most controversial pre-election promise concerning growing retirement age, broadcast foreign media.
The last woman as prime minister was briefly Edith Cresson, while in the early 1990s France's president was Socialist leader Francois Mitterrand.
