Russia has tried to build defence walls in the city, but it was not immediately clear whether troops were prepared for the Ukrainian counterattack.
The main headquarters of the Ukrainian Army claimed in a statement that its forces have broken a line of Russian defence and pushed its forces into less favourable terrain. Ukrainian troops also hoped to jeopardise Russia's supply routes in bridges over the Dnipro River, the announcement said. /Periscopi/
