Chief diplomat Gervala with the government's authorisation today 12 May in Strasbourg, France, has submitted Kosovo's official application to the EC.

Meanwhile, EC spokesman Dusan Vojinovic has said the application for membership has been accepted and broadcast to the Council of Ministers.

“We can confirm that the application for membership is accepted and is being transmitted to the Committee of Ministers in accordance with the Council of Europe statute”, EC spokesman Dusan Vojanovic has said for Express.

Kosovo government at the meeting held today has charged MPJD to develop membership procedures.

After this meeting, European top diplomat Donika Grovalla announced she has submitted Kosovo's application for EU membership.

We submitted membership application to the Council of Europe. Today we opened a new chapter for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, today the process of reviewing our application, which will be passed to various instances of the Council of Europe and the Parliamentary Assembly and, to the end of the Ministerial Council. Kosovo is the most democratic country in the region, Kosovo is the most pro-European country in the region and is the most optimistic country in the region. Therefore, Kosovo deserves to be a member of the Council of Europe a day earlier. This procedure we have launched today will end with full membership of Kosovo in the Council of Europe and with this strengthening the rights of Kosovo citizens and access to European institutions”.

Immediately, it has been the reaction of Serbian President Vucic, who has said Kosovo has violated Washington's agreement.

He has also called at the National Security Council meeting tomorrow after Kosovo's decision to apply for membership in the Council of Europe.
