U.S. House of Representatives, Republican Adam Kinzinger, introduced today a draft resolution allowing the use of American military forces to protect Ukraine in case Russia uses weapons of mass destruction.
Kinzinger said in an explanation of the draft, published on his website, that the resolution was designed to ensure that the American administration can take the appropriate “measures if the Russian Federation uses chemical, biological or nuclear weapons”.
He added that the initiative, if approved, gives the US president authority to use American forces to respond to a scenario in which the Russian Federation uses chemical, biological or nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
“We must rise for humanity together with our allies”, Kinzinger said.
So far, President Joe Biden's administration has strongly dismissed the possibility of sending American troops to Ukraine, explaining that such a scenario would pose a danger to a direct military conflict between Russia and NATO.
