According to market data selling building materials in Albania, the value of 1 tonnes of iron has increased to 1050 euros from 700 euros that have been in the summer of 2021, up to 33.3%.
The higher growth has suffered the price of cement, the main element in public work, as well as the construction of roads and residences damaged by the earthquake.
The cement has increased by 45%. Out of 66 euros per quantum, the price has reached 148 euros.
Bitum has increased by 21%. From 45 euros per kilogram, the market value today has reached 57 euros.
Major traders say the increase has started since January this year and has culminated in the beginning of the Russia-Ukrainian conflict.
Much of the large companies reduced production during the pandemic due to limiting the number of people who went to work, while the market later experienced the blocking of the transportation network.
The war caused many countries to restrict the sale of these materials, while Russia is in the world's five largest iron and bitumen producers. /euronews. al
