“The philosophy of determining Albania as a unique destination means making friends with people in this country who immediately invite you to be part of their world. It means sharing original experiences with them. It is the sight of an orange sun immersed in the Ionian Sea, surrounded by people shining from a light as radiant as beaches and as deep as the forests of national parks”, said Godbarno in the UN hall, during the summit dedicated to sustainable tourism and reconstruction of the sector after pandemic.
She also presented recent tourism figures, saying that the pandemic year also had positive effects on the discovery of domestic tourism.
We expected 6.4 million tourists in 2019 and 5.6 million tourists in 2021. However, the challenges of recent years show us that the fight for a better world does not win numbers, but the stability of societies, sustainability, solidarity, the foresight of sustainable development”, said Godbarro.
She stressed that “Albania is the preferred destination of the curious, the destination where the snowy peak of a mountain is half an hour drive from the world's most beautiful beaches, according to the prestigious “The Guardian Travel” that lists Albanian beaches among the top 40 beaches for this year”.
A destination must communicate the idea that separates it from others and makes it a special experience. The philosophy of determining Albania as a unique destination means making friends with the people of this country, who immediately invite you to be part of their world”, Godbaro said among others.
The tourism minister presented the stimulating package for strategic investments, while added that Albanian tourism is recognising positive trends in terms of extending the season, expanding tourist map and developing agroturisms as a sustainable development model.
Mirela Godbarko is in New York where there have been meetings with World Tourism Organisation Secretary-General Zurab Polokashvili, UN General Assembly President Abdulla Sahit and Tourism Ministers for Growth of Co-operation, aimed at presenting Albania to international markets and increasing investments in tourism. / A T S/
