Still a decade ago, the country's electricity network is much more advanced in all parameters. This was achieved thanks to KED investments, which started immediately and have already invested over 200m euros through nearly 2,000 projects through contracting companies or through its maintenance teams.
KEDS has worked hard during these nine years in modernising network and service infrastructure. Today, the way of reading and billing consumers is digitalized. Nearly 85 percent of hours known to consumers are digital.
It has also been worked for the improvement of the distribution network and supply safety. Of this, the total number of power outages (SAIFI) during KED operations has resulted compared to the previous period dropping 64 percent, while the country's overall power cuts index (SAIDI) decrease by 70 per cent.
Improvements are long-term, as KEDS is working on standardising network capacities at the European level through doubling the network's capacity, ranging from level 10kV to 20kV in the most populated areas. Already these lines, which did not exist at all in Kosovo earlier, are located in a considerable part of the country, including most of Pristina. During the following period, it is working to have these lines reach the centres of all Kosovo cities.
Investments in the distributive network have also helped greatly in reducing losses, which have dropped from 31 percent to 17 percent.
Even businesses have not been left behind. Thanks to the priority of business needs and the daily commitment to improving conditions for them, electricity from the main problem they have in the World Bank's Doing Business report is now listed as the eighth problem.
Investments are continuing, like improvements in all sectors. Digitalisation and modernisation of the distribution network will continue, hard work will be done in the further growth of supply security, service advance and loss reduction. It's also being worked on adapting the network to the needs of renewable energy producers.
The company is working on full co-ordination with all municipalities in Kosovo to adjust their development priorities, both economically and with the expansion of settlements based on urban planning.
Besides essential activities, KEDS has been and continues to be close to all citizens of the country, through dozens of projects in the area of the Corporation's Social Responsibility. The main orientation has been in the education sector, where KEDS Academy's programme is central and among the main ones at the country level, opening the door to hundreds of young people for successful careers.
