The Drizan Shala exhibition, told Radio Kosovo that since January this year until March, Serbia has held 25 military activities on its territory. According to him, it shows that Serbia aims to increase public and international pressure, that if things don't go as planned, then it can use its military machinery towards Kosovo and several other countries in the region.
“This is an indicator Serbia must stop and this can be achieved through co-ordination of joint activities between Kosovo and international mechanisms. Kosovo needs as soon as possible to do a review of the security sector in Kosovo, at the same time there is a change in the phase of the comprehensive transition plan by the KSF. At the same time, Kosovo should seek assistance from its international strategic partners, such as the US, at the operational level by Croatia and Turkey, while at the tactical level it should seek support from the Albanian state”, he said.
Shala said China's goal is that through co-operation with Serbia, it can have its impact on the foreign policy of this state and be closer to Europe. But, he said it is disturbing that Serbia is not stopping supplied with weapons and modernising its defence capacities, until it stressed that the international community and the countries of the region must react to the issue.
“In particular, NATO member states need to ask Serbia to become inspection of these military means and to be called to account for what they have bought and when they attempt or intend to exploit these tools, which they have recently received from Beijing”, he said.
According to security expert Drizan Shala, Serbia aims for geostrategically changing the course of the Western Balkans. Meanwhile, as for Kosovo, he said that so far between Kosovo and Serbia no progress has been achieved to approach positions for mutual recognition, and this could violate Kosovo's territorial integrity through the criminal structures Serbia is using.
Meanwhile, days ago, in his statement, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said Serbia is in some kind of panic and fears it may remain alone. Government leader added that their arming is not dangerous for the region and Kosovo, but citizens are safe.
We're worried, we're careful, but we're not scared. We know they have 42 military bases around the border with Kosovo, which is the longest border, and they have 42 offensive military bases around them. But despite that, although we are not in NATO, NATO is in us. Kosovo and NATO are part of each other's history, both of the present and the future. With the investments we're doing with our allies, I believe that both territory and state, and citizens are safe”, he said.
In 2020, American officials had warned Belgrade against providing HQ-22 anti-aircraft systems. They said that if Serbia really wants to join the European Union and other Western alliances, it must harmonise its military equipment with Western standards.
Serbia officially wants to join the EU, except it has reinforced its armed forces with Russian and Chinese weapons, including fighter aircraft, tanks and other equipment.
According to the Associated Press, in the West it is fear that Serbia's arming with weapons from Russia and China could encourage this state towards another war, separately against Kosovo.
