The area where the vice president was kidnapped is near the Russian border. Sumy is still in the hands of Ukraine, but has been constantly the target of Russian attacks.
A number of other local Ukrainian officials have been captured by Russian invading forces and in some cases replaced by pro-Russian collaborators. /abcnews.al/
