The Russian businessman, who lives in Poland, allegedly gathered information about the military readiness of Polish and NATO troops stationed in the country.
Last month Poland expelled 45 Russian diplomats suspected of working for Russian intelligence services -- a move that brought the Kremlin's reaction to countering the same currency.
Poland has been the main voice in the European Union, demanding tougher sanctions against Russia for its invasion in Ukraine.
In another case, two Mediterranean citizens suspected of spying were arrested in Poland last week. They were allegedly involved in efforts to identify strategic defence targets in the country.
