Austria's Chancellor said after meeting with Vladimir Putin in Moscow last week that the Russian president is “in his war logic” when it comes to Ukraine.
Karl Nehammer told the NBC in an interview that he thinks Putin believes he's winning the war, records the Telegrafi.
Nehammer was the first European leader to meet Putin in Moscow since Russia launched its aggression on 24 February.
He stressed that “should look into the eye and face what we see in Ukraine”.
Before arriving in Moscow last Monday, Nehammer had visited Bucha, Ukraine, the town outside Kiev, where evidence of murder and torture emerged after the withdrawal of Russian forces.
Nehammer told “Meet the Press” that he confronted Putin with what he had seen in Bucharest and “was not a friendly conversation”.
He added that Putin said that “ai would co-operate with an international investigation, on the one hand, and on the other, he told me he did not trust the Western world. So this is going to be the problem now in the future”.
