Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, after a long time when she was asked to talk about the Civil Code (the example of Periscope where we sent a lot like the weather and we got no answer), decided to talk last night on the ATV debate show.
While announcing the application Kosovo will make at the Council of Europe, Mrs. Osmani has said it is also of utmost importance to adopt the Civil Code.
He did not mention the issue of same - sex marriages in particular, but he quickly mentioned it in the context of human rights.
We're talking about human rights. The question of marriage has not been in the Civil Code at all. As for the human rights issue, in the Council of Europe, one of the first issues to be assessed by the Commission to come to Kosovo will be human rights. I'm confident that soon the government will send the Civil Code to the country, how many revisions there will be, I think the government should ask, but it's a code that envisions a large number of issues, not just the issue you mentioned. It is the most important act that a parliament approves after the Constitution”, the president said, conveyed by ATV Periscopi.
I do not believe in this mandate that there will be more important action than the one that will be approved. As I have received, there is a discussion between MPs and the government on the new version to be brought in, and we will finally see what the Council of Europe assessment will be. But it is important that the Constitution of Kosovo be respected, and as the Constitutions, you know it has been a project that envisions human rights in the most advanced way and not talk about community rights, not many that cannot be found anywhere in Europe, as far as the level we respect. I hope MPs will keep in mind that Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe”, the president said further. /Periscope
