billionaire Elon Musk has often been described as an extreme capitalist, but what are the political views of the world's richest man?

The answer to that question is not that direct.

In 2011, Elon Musk described himself as a semi-democrat “, half Republican”, adding that he found himself somewhere in the middle, “liberal in a social and fiscal conservative respect”.

Meanwhile, in one of his tweets, he says he feels like a socialist, but “not from those who receive product resources from people to distribute them less productive, under the claim that they are doing well while in reality causing more damage to”.

Later, he asked his more than 80 million tweeters not to take his posts very seriously.

Of course, these are just a few of the things that Elon Musk has said about politics, but what say the ones he has made About this?

During a discussion on the latest developments in technology, Musk said in favor of applying a basic universal payment.

In fact, Musk isn't just for this idea, but he said it would come a day that she would become a necessity.

The basic universal salary is a type of monthly social assistance, which according to Musk, will be necessary to pay to the citizens of the world at a time when automation will force millions of people to become unemployed, as their professions will be replaced by robots and artificial intelligence.

That's a concept that would make him classified immediately as a liberal left-hand accessor and politics, but Musk is a little bit more complicated than that.

Left vs. Right

Initially, a little context about the US political spectrum ʹ the country that South African Elon Mousk has called the most perfect <x0 democracies, which today has the greatest force to do well, compared to any other state”.

Left hand or Liberals Those who are now in the U.S. power are strongly aware of the importance of a great government otherwise known as big governmentWith the reasoning that the state should have a great power over individuals and businesses, which included high taxes on the rich and ideally, huge spending on social programs, even though unfortunately it doesn't always happen that way.

Right on the other side, or conservatives, are focused around the individual's “cult” and they lobby for a smaller government or state with the reasoning that for the capitalist economic model to manifest all its potential, taxes, especially on rich elites, should be kept to minimum, so that the free market itself will select the most “-orphany <2> and decide who should go ahead and who does not.

Of course, there is also a principled context that divides what is often known as “2 Americas”

This border separates those Americans who find themselves closer to the right conservative model that is closely related to religious principles, especially those Judeo-Christians from those who adapt to the liberal left model, which claims to be more inclusive towards different communities or even more immigration policies.

This spectre certainly also contains centrists or those who often define themselves as libertarians.

Libertarians in principle seek to maximize individual autonomy by minimising the state and putting a special emphasis on freedom of expression, but also on social policies.

They are skeptical of authorities and of placing a large quantity of power in the hands of few individuals. That's why they believe ordinary citizens should be more involved in political-making.

Musk has often been described as libertarian, but he has never said no to large state subsidies, especially during President Donald Trump's right administration.

A 2012 Sunlight Foundation report found that Musk had spent over $4m on lobbiing at the American Congress and over $80,000 on political contributions to Democrats and Republicans.

The same report, indicated that during the 2012 elections alone, Musk had spent $250,000 on former US President Barack Obama's campaign.

These staggering figures show that Musk is not even so right or in favor of a small country, especially if it affords to benefit from large amounts of concessions and government subsidies.
