Ukrainian authorities are investigating possible conduct of war crimes by Russia, as they have found hundreds of lifeless bodies of civilians in the town streets near Kiev.

They have found bodies of people killed after the Kremlin forces have withdrawn to concentrate on other parts of Ukraine.

In the town of Buka, 37 miles [37 km] from Kiev, a Ukrainian Radio Free Europe correspondent has seen the lifeless bodies of those who seem to have been civilians on April 2nd.

In a single location, this correspondent saw 10 bodies of civilians killed on the street.

Journalists of the Associated Press news agency have seen at least 21 bodies of people killed in various countries in this town.

Ukrainian authorities have said the troops of at least 410 civilians have been found in the area around Kiev, which has been controlled by Russian forces until last week.

French President Emmanuel Macron has said in a radio interview on April 4th that there are signs that Russian forces have carried out <x0) war crimes” in Buka.

“What happened in Butka should follow a new round of sanctions and very clear measures”, Macron has said, adding that new sanctions should target Russian coal and oil exports.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has said Russian forces may have gone as far as to perform <x0-genocide” in Butcha.

“We will do everything to ensure that those who committed these war crimes will not go unpunished”, Sanchez said in Madrid.

The Kremlin has flatly denied charges linked to the killings of civilians in the Ukrainian town of Butka, and has said Ukrainian claims should be dealt with with with with suspicion.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said the facts and chronology of the events in Butka do not support the Ukraine version, so he has called on international leaders not to rush into judgment.

Peskov has not commented whether the events in Butka will influence peace talks between Kiev and Moscow, which are expected to be held through video connection Monday.

The Research Committee in Russia has issued a statement on April 4th saying it will launch <x0 settings”, on charges that Ukraine has distributed the false “ ” on Russian forces' actions in Buka.

The Russian Defence Ministry has said by a statement Sunday, April 3rd, that all images published by Ukrainian authorities for “crimes” carried out by Russian troops in Buka are “approval” and that no city resident has faced violence by Russian troops.

In some satellite images, a large hole was seen near a Ukrainian church where a mass cemetery was identified.

Images of destruction and violence have prompted reactions by many world leaders.

UN Secretary - General Antonio Gutters has called for independent investigations.

“Putin and its supporters will feel the consequences”, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said, adding that Western allies will agree to other sanctions in the coming days.

Japan has said it will consult with allies for additional sanctions.

“Japani takes the deaths of innocent civilians very seriously. We're shocked”, Japanese cabinet chief Hirokazu Matsuno said.

German Defence Minister Christine Lambricht has said the European Union should discuss the possibility of halting Russian gas importation.

The UN Security Council will discuss Ukraine on Tuesday and will not meet on Monday, as requested by Russia, Britain's mission to the United Nations, which holds the presidency of the Council with 15 member states, has said.

Russia has requested that a meeting be held Monday to discuss what it considers “approvals of Ukrainian radicals” in the town of Buka after Kiev has accused Russian troops of killing civilians there.

Russia has repeatedly denied targeting civilians and has rejected war crimes allegations.

Russian authorities view the war in Ukraine as “special military operation” with the aim of “demilitarisation” and Ukraine's “denification”.

Ukraine says it has been invaded without provocation.

The international human rights organisation, Human Rights Watch, has said it has documented “several cases when Russian military forces have violated war laws” in the area of Chernihivi, Harkiwi and Kiev.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called for the International Criminal Court to collect data on what it considers war crimes.

The foreign ministers of France and Britain have said they would support such investigations.

However, legal experts believe the judgment of Putin and other Russian leaders would be a very difficult process and could take years. / REL/
