Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has today met with Assistant Secretary of State of the United States for Europe and Asia Karen Donfreed, with whom he has talked about bilateral relations, European integration.

At the meeting, Vuciq noted the “Open Balkans initiative” as an example of successful regional co-operation and war for joint purposes, stressing that it is the best way to prepare the countries of the region for membership and to prepare EU standards.

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Asian Affairs Karen Donfried stressed that the United States strongly advocates that the entire Western Balkan region join the European Union and reiterated that this is one of the priority regions.

Welcoming the “Balkan opened” initiative and Serbia's intention to focus regional co-operation on economic issues, the US Assistant Secretary of State stressed that this initiative presents an opportunity for better promotion and regional investment.

The conversationators also shared thoughts on dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, agreeing that open issues in the dialogue could be resolved under the EU's auspices to reach compromise solutions, Klankosova reported.tv.

Our “Pala has fulfilled its obligations, while Pristina insists on avoiding its implementation. Even nine years after the arrival of the Brussels Agreement and the implementation plan, the founding of the Serbian Commission has not been initiated”, Vuciq has said.
