Kosovo police were looking for Besart Hoxha following the request they had received from the Department of Justice in the United States for co-operation.
Meanwhile, the Department of Justice requested his extradition to America.
The Department of Justice in the United States about four years ago had filed charges against 36 people, including two people from Kosovo, Besart Hoxha and Liridon Musliu.
The US State Department in the announcement made in 2018 stressed that, Kosovar Besart Hoxha, who was arrested by Kosovo Police last night, was known on the internet by the name “Pizza”.
On the other hand, the other Kosovo Liridon Musliu was known on the internet with the nickname “Hulk”.
The Justice Department at the time reported that Hoxha, Musliu and the other 34 members of the hackers group were allegedly involved in a global cyber theft scheme that caused $530m damage.
The prosecution's request is that each member of this group of hackers be sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The Act set up by US prosecutors listed 117 cybercrime works by members of this group of hackers, which includes credit card misuse and selling stolen information online.
The group of 36 people charged allegedly caused 530m euros in damage to consumers, businesses and financial institutions.
According to American prosecutors, this group of hackers had been operating for seven years.
The State Department reported that for arresting defendants outside the United States, they have co-operated with the institutions of relevant countries, including the Kosovo Ministry of Justice and the Kosovo State Prosecutor.
