Although the SBASK had warned of the start of the strike from April 20th, this has not happened.

The SBASK chairman, Nundman Jasharaj, told Kosovo that the government has a week to meet their demands, otherwise trade unions would insist they continue with joint commitments.

Jashari added that Prime Minister Albin Kurti has heard their demands and will hold consultations with the cabinet ministers.

“The meeting that was held with the prime minister has been assessed as a hopeful meeting... The prime minister has carefully heard all our requests that I am sure he even knew, and has expressed himself willing to continue with the dialogue. He has told our representatives that he needs little time to consult with his ministers because our demands are not all addressed in a ministry, but at various ministries”, Jasharaj said.

The head of the SBASK has indicated that their request is to continue the division of an additional 100 euros after April, as well as the inclusion of trade unions in dialogue on the Law on Salaries.

Our “representatives have insisted on two key requirements that the government has improvised 100 euros for April, but have insisted that 100 euros as our demand continue in the coming months until the wage law is made in union co-operation. The other requirement is to include union in equal dialogue on the wage Law and to be heard and considered, and to enter within the final version of this law”, Jasharaj said.

Jasharaj said that after a week, it will be known whether the government will take their demands seriously, on the contrary, union action will be taken.

We made a decision after a week to have a meeting at the same level and see if Kurt's statement will come true, or genuine and correct meetings and whether there are real commitments to the realization of our demands... If we don't have any moves in a week, we'll consider Friday's meeting was enough to say, and then we as the biggest union will insist that we continue our joint commitments. This means that all trade unions in its sector start with union action. So this week it's up to the government to testify whether he's finally turning to dialogue, or just saying”, he said.
