Police have removed Palestinians from the area outside the mosque on the morning of April 17th, while dozens of Palestinians remained inside the building.
Israeli police said Palestinians had accumulated stones and erected barricades, preparing for violence.
Shortly after, Palestinians reported clashes with Israeli police outside the mosque complex. Palestinian doctors said ten people were injured.
Israeli police said they have entered the complex to facilitate a routine visit of Jews to this holy place, adding that security forces are continuing to enable freedom of worship for Jews and Muslims.
This place is extremely important to Muslims and Jews known as the Temple Mountain. It is also a longtime area of violence between the Israelites and the Palestinians.
On April 15th, the clashes began in this country after police said that Palestinians threw stones at the western Wall, a nearby Jewish holy place.
Police said officials entered the area after being attacked with fireworks, stones and other items. Three Palestinian police officers were hurt, they said. According to reports, more than 150 Palestinians are reportedly injured.
Tensions have increased after a series of attacks by Palestinians who killed 14 people in Israel. Israeli troops have carried out a wave of arrests and military operations throughout the occupied West Coast, causing clashes with Palestinians. At least 25 Palestinians have been killed, the Associated Press reported.
