Gashi: Protest has nothing to do with Kurt, we'd protest even if he wasn't prime minister.

The Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo (BSPK) -- today during the day -- has held protests, where it submitted six requests to the Government of Kosovo. BSPK Chairman Ali Gashi has said that today's protest has been described as warning and there have been limited numbers of participating unionists, adding that they have given the executive opportunity to discuss together all their demands.

“BSPK as sponsor of this protest has invited all federations, which are within its framework and all federations have participated in limited numbers, since it has been a joint decision. Pressure and membership demand have been extremely great, but it is the practice and union culture for decisions made in the BSPK leadership to be respected. That's why we've called it a warning protest, giving the government a chance for a reflection and giving us a chance to sit down and talk about all the demands which, speaking the truth, are present”.

Gashi in Klan Kosova has said that this protest has no political character and has nothing to do with Prime Minister Albin Kurti. He even said they would protest the same no matter who is prime minister.

Kosovo's “government is institution, and it does not matter who heads that institution. It has nothing to do with Prime Minister Albin Kurti or the proper name. From after the war, unions have reacted with protests and strikes that have been up to three weeks. The tendency to give political character or to introduce that these protests are directed against Prime Minister Albin Kurti, and I say that responsibly, as we are and are asking the government and the prime minister to sit down and talk. Albin Kurti is Kosovo prime minister, is implementing legislation and has fully the right to lower and make solutions which would be acceptable to the parties. It doesn't matter whether Albin Kurti is or not, because even if it wasn't for Albin Kurti, I assure you that this protest would happen, in case he came to an neglect like it is now”.
