European Council president after the visit to Ukraine: No words to explain what I feel

European Council President Charles Michel said there were no words to explain what he feels after the visit to Ukraine, adding that Russia must be punished for events under way in the country, writes CNN, Pryscopy. There are no words to explain what I feel, not as European Council President, [...]

There are no words to explain what I feel, not as European Council President, but as a father, as a human being. These are atrocities. These are war crimes. He must be punished. He'll be punished. They must pay for what they have done, there and in many other cities and other countries in Ukraine”, Michel said at a press conference in Kiev.
Speaking with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Michel said earlier in the day he had visited the town of Borodianka, where mass graves were discovered full of hundreds of civilians killed after the withdrawal of Russian forces from the Kiev region.

Michel said the European Union is seeking a victory by Ukraine against Russia and will do everything it can to support Ukraine.

For now, like you, I think about people, civilians in Donbas, in Marioupol, in other cities who are fighting for their lives. Who are fighting for the sovereignty of Ukraine. That's why we'll use all possible means in our hands,” said Michel.

He added that the European Union is working closely with international organisations such as the International Monetary Fund (FMN) and the World Bank to ensure that Ukraine can receive the funds it needs to pay for short, medium- and long-term social spending.

However this is also very important, to start the country's reconstruction programme” as soon as possible, he said.

The Ukraine Finance Ministry has estimated that it will need $5 billion a month of financial assistance to maintain the functioning of the country's economy./ CNN/ PERISCOP/
