Josep Borrell, the EU foreign policy chief, made a statement concerning the sentence of killings in Ukraine, as well as about preparing further sanctions.
The European Union condemns in the harshest possible terms the atrocities reported by the Russian armed forces in a number of occupied Ukrainian cities that are now released. Images of a large number of civilian deaths and victims, as well as the destruction of civil infrastructure, show the true face of the brutal fight of aggression Russia is developing against Ukraine and its people”.
“The EU will continue to strongly support Ukraine and advance, as an urgent matter, work on further sanctions against Russia”, Borrell has said.
Massacres in the town of Bucha and other Ukrainian cities will be included on the list of atrocities committed on European soil.
He said Russian authorities are responsible for these atrocities, committed until they had effective control of the area.
Borrell expressed full support for the EU's investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity, as well as the UN investigation.
He said those responsible for war crimes, including government officials and military leaders, would be held accountable.
