According to Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi, the Serbian side has introduced its preference to working groups and have acknowledged that the task for a solution to the license issue to be carried to the chief negotiators and that solutions be found for the next 30 days.
The Serbian “Pala has not held to the agreement on the sides, our side that has chosen its preference at the first meeting, the Serb side has refused to determine its preference. As a result, we have not been able to present a solution today. Once again, at the request of Mr. Lajcak, we have offered an additional concession that for 30 days tasks from the task force to be delivered to the chief negotiators so that we can find a solution together, but the Serbian side has not accepted”, Bislim said in a proposal to reporters in Brussels.
Lajcak confirmed meetings in Brussels for plates, but added that these meetings are also being discussed for the upcoming summit of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
The meeting of the chief negotiators between Kosovo and Serbia is under way today. We have a full agenda with current issues, including car license plates, implementation of past dialogue agreements and preparations for the upcoming” summit, Lajcak wrote on Twitter.
On September 30th of last year in Brussels a temporary agreement has been reached regarding the plates, provided a final agreement is reached within six months.
With the interim agreement, Kosovo and Serbia have agreed that the vehicles of the two countries -- during the circulation in each other's territories -- cover with sticky white letters of state symbols in the license plates.
The agreement has been reached after several days of unrest in northern Kosovo, where some local Serbs had blocked roads to reject the Kosovo government's then ruling on reciprocity measures. With those measures, Serbia's license plates -- once it enters Kosovo territory -- has had to set temporary license plates like Kosovo license drivers did when they entered Serbia.
