A British MP under investigation for allegedly viewing pornography in Parliament has said he opened the page incorrectly but would withdraw if convicted.
According to British media, conservative MP Neil Parish referred to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards on Friday, days after two conservative female deputies said they saw him watching pornography on his mobile phone in the House of Parliament and on a commission.
And the MP, questioned in his house in Somerset if he opened one by mistake, said: “I did, but let the investigation examine it”.
He said he would expect the investigation findings, but “would not stay if I was convicted”.
Parish, who was suspended from the party Friday, said he would fully match “with the investigation while apologizing and found that he told his wife only this afternoon.
Sue Parish, whom he has been married to for 40 years, said the entire episode was “a small foolish” and that the charges were very embarrassing “”.
Asked if she was aware that her husband had seen pornography before, she told The Times: “He's a pretty normal guy, really”
