Over 1,000 members of the Kosovo Police have resigned from this institution because of poor economic conditions, but also other issues. This phenomenon is considered very disturbing to Rashit Qalaj, former director of the Kosovo Police, once deputy PDK.
Qalaj has stressed that they have consistently demanded that security institutions have more favourable conditions, as he says to be part of the police, a series of trainings and numerous expenditures should be carried out.
According to him, the police flight should be an alarm not only for Government but for the entire society, so it has appealed that the Law of Pays that would ensure stability as soon as adopted.
“Since the beginning of the Kosovo Police work and so far around 1,000 police officers have released the Kosovo Police, most of them for economic reasons, but there have been others for other reasons. I think it's disturbing normally when cops who need a nice long time training, various basic training and then specialised training are forced to quit just because of the quest for a better life, better work”.
I believe that it is very bad phenomenon, I am now hearing that the demands for exit from the Kosovo Police are much larger, and not only from the Kosovo Police, but also from the KSF. This is an alarm for the whole society, Government, Kosovo, especially in these security conditions that prevail today. It has been a long time being discussed on the matter of the wage Law, which is one of the key issues, and we even in the Kosovo Parliament have asked the Government many times for the Law to come to the Assembly for Pay, to be discussed, to be approved to have favourable financial conditions for all institutions, and especially for those of security”.
To pay for the night shift and the deputy Shut The PDK said the government should make efforts for this requirement to be realised.
The “is a symbolic, very small payment, and yet the Government of Kosovo must increase the night's pay, and also make efforts to secure the shutter for police since the police never know which country they will work in and often have no stop and buy” food.
While the head of the Kosovo Police Union, Imer Zeqiri, said that the departure of professionals in the security field is being made due to the frustrations they have at home.
The plan appealed from government bodies to turn attention to Kosovo Police to meet the conditions in order to prevent their departure, EO reports.
Kosovo's “Police performed all tasks with extremely high professionalism. Due to poor conditions, a number of police have resigned voluntarily, and somewhere from the establishment of the police, we have over 1,000 members who have turned down voluntary resignations from KP”.
I think most of them have gone because of the frustrations they had inside. Perhaps others have other causes too. I had appealed by government bodies to turn attention to the Kosovo Police to meet the conditions to stop all these professionals”.
And Institute for Affirmation of Interethnic Relations Director Fatmir Sheholli said the Government and Parliament are not coming up with <x0k>” Kosovo Police.
He adds that Kosovo police should have high incomes for their well-being as they deserve, rather than pay as much as”phagus”.
“We have different information from embassies that are constantly reporting to Albanians who are asking for visas to leave Kosovo but with special emphasis on the police, I think that Kosovo police, Government and Parliament are not going to come up, enough in this respect because personal revenues are not in relation to their commitments, and I consider that besides the issue having to do with their health aspects must be that, in relation to their work and commitments, police have their personal income, not to get the welfare as they deserve, and that's why I consider that's the reason that thousands of Kosovo police are going to go on with the police and that's sense of their own government.
