Point 2: Hour of Albanian police arrest in Morina (VIDEO)

A joint police action has been held this Friday at the Morine-Vermica border point, accused of abuse of office and corruption.

Albanian police officers at this border point have been arrested in the action, where the number of those arrested is 31 police officers, according to the SPAK report, and three others have been suspended from office.

Police action is taken under suspicion of criminal acts “misusing official task” and “bribe taking”. The event is under way by the Kosovo Police Inspectorate and the Special Prosecutor, in co-operation with Albania authorities.

This is an investigation that began in November 2020 where, according to the SPAK, 312 episodes of police employees' corrupt actions favoured different people for the introduction of smuggled goods; persons who trafficked vehicles, other illegal items; helped cross the border with persons with legal problems for their entry and exit to EU countries. Meanwhile, the action is still under way and is ongoing with action “Pika 1”, where more than 50 police officials had ended up arrested.
