Zelenskyy: There's nothing left of Marioupolis, only ruins

Zelensky said this statement in a virtual speech to the Italian parliament after Kiev called on Moscow to allow civilians to evacuate the besieged city.

Marioupol, a top strategic goal for Moscow, has endured weeks of Russian shelling. Officials have said that residents are without food, medicine, electricity, and drinking water.

While Zelensky spoke before this parliament, the Marioupolis Council said Russian forces had dropped two major bombs in the city, but did not elaborate on victims or damages.

Once again, it is clear that invaders are not interested in the city of Marioupolis. They want to level it to the ground and make the ashes of a dead land”, the Council said.

Russia, in turn, denies targeting civilians.
