Albright was a central figure in President Bill Clinton's administration. In President Clinton's first term, she served as ambassador to the United Nations, meanwhile in the second term the 64th Secretary of State was appointed.
In addition to pushing ahead with the intervention of NATO's military alliance in Kosovo, during its mandate as secretary she has opted for expanding this alliance, has worked at reducing the spread of nuclear weapons and working on human rights and democracy worldwide.
Because of its work on democracy and human rights, she was honoured in 2012 at the Presidential Freedom Medal, which is the highest civilian price in the US.
