Only 20 cases of school violence were reported in the Ministry of Education, but 200 r was reported in the Kosovo Police during 2021-2022Here.
During reporting to the Commission for Human Rights, Education Minister Arberie Nagavci has stated that wages for 520 psychologists and professors have been budgeted, but in educational and educational institutions there are only 146. She has said that cases of violence in schools are being erased.
Nagavci: During 2021-2022 there were 20 reported cases
Unfortunately, there is still a tendency to hide such cases, fearing that reporting cases will spread a prejudice that schools are not so good. Although positive steps have been made in relation to reporting cases of violence, in 2018-2019 we have had a total of 18 reported cases in 2020-2021, 15 reported cases. During 2021-22 this system reported 20 cases. We don't think they're reported enough. Even with a conference yesterday with the commission from representatives of police institutions it was announced that during the past year there have been about 200 reported cases”, she has said.
During the budget analysis, Nagavci said they have noted why wages are also budgeted for 520 support staff, in schools there are small numbers of them.
Nagavci: There are only 146 professional staff
“We have acknowledged with concern during the budget analysis that although in the budget of the Republic of Kosovo, salaries are budgeted for around 520 support staff, psychologists and professors, unfortunately in practice in our educational and educational institutions are only 146 professional staff”, she has declared.
Before members of the Commission for Human Rights, Minister Nagavci has announced that they have made a commitment with the education inspectorate to increase supervision and accountability.
Nagavci: Only 28 inspectors are in the ministry.
There are only 28 inspectors in the ministry who are very few. We've applied for growth. The requirements for 83 inspectors have already been approved. The competition has been open, the first phase of the internal competition has ended. Then we'll continue with the other stages of recruiting as soon as the inspectors' former”, she said.
Furthermore, she has added that they are in finalisation of the working group in order to harmonise actions to provide safe environment for students in schools.
