Delegations have arrived in Istanbul, Turkey. The Ukraine delegation is led by Defence Minister Olexii Reznikov, and presidential adviser Mikhail Podolyak.
Kiev said their priority is reaching a ceasefire.
The face-to-face meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian delegation will take place in the presence of Turkey's president, Recep Tayip Erdogan.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:00 local time.
Meanwhile, Russia's delegation is demanding that Ukraine give up NATO membership -- an issue Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he is willing to compromise.
Other issues expected to be discussed are the fate of two eastern Ukraine regions -- Donjecku and Luhanscu -- but the Crimean status -- the peninsula, which Moscow illegally annexed in 2014. / REL
