Just after Russia's conquest began in late February, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov wrote on Twitter to ask US billionaire Elon Mousk to activate his Starlink satellites for use in Ukraine.

Musk posted his response on Twitter that, “Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals along”.

Shortly thereafter, a number of powerful terminals and batteries arrived in Ukraine. Soon others followed. Fedov again went on Twitter to express his gratitude.

No secret shipment, no long debate, no government or parliamentary controls: only a very public agreement between a politician, whose country has been attacked and a humanitarian billionaire who continued to challenge the aggressor, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in <x0) the only”.

What at first looked like a coup The PR now appears to be playing an important role in protecting Ukraine.

“Create a target purchase”

British media have reported that Ukraine's military is successfully using Starlink for attacks on tanks and Russian positions. Telegrafi reported that Starlink has a special military significance in areas where infrastructure is weak and has no internet connection.

According to the “The Telegraph”, the Aerosvidka air detection unit is using Starlink to monitor and coordinate non-pilot aircraft, enabling soldiers to shoot antitank weapons with target accuracy. Only high-speed system data can provide sustainable communication.

An officer of the Aerosvidka unit described the system for “The Times”.

“We use Starlink devices and connect the drone team to our military team”, he said.

“If we use a warning with thermal vision at night, fear should be connected via Starlink to the artillery person and create a takeover of target”.

The Times reported that the Aerosvidska team heads about 300 missions to collect information every day. The attacks are then carried out overnight, according to the newspaper, because the fears, some of which are equipped with thermal cameras, are almost impossible to see in the dark.

Many Possible Uses

The Starlink satellites aim to provide internet in areas not supplied to urban centres.

The potential for using satellites to get information for people in areas where the internet is censored was discussed.

Few had imagined, however, that his initial use would be in a European war zone, in which one of the first actions of the aggressor at the beginning of the occupation was to target and destroy electricity supply and internet connections.

Ukrainians have, or have regained access to information.

According to The Telegraph, Starlink is one of the most popular applications downloads in Ukraine, enabling more than 100,000 people to stay up-to-date for what's going on in the war and keep in touch with the outside world.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky uses Starlink satellites to give speeches to the nation and national parliaments worldwide. In addition to its military benefit, Starlink has become vital to Ukraine, both for receiving support worldwide and for preserving the constant resistance of people.

Target for Russia?

With Russia trying to target and destroy Ukrainian infrastructure, including energy and the internet, the connection will likely be even more important in the coming weeks and months. This, of course, also means that Starlink waiting plates, which are not exactly unclear, will be targets for Russian troops.

The greatest danger, however, is that waiting devices can be settled in operation. Immediately after handing over the first terminals in early March, Musk wrote on Twitter that “disable Starlink only when necessary and put the antenna as far away from people as possible”.

In addition to targeted attacks, Russia is apparently trying to use blockaders to block internet access from space.
