At the Council's special meeting, where it was voted for the appointment of this road, Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj said Albania's solidarity with the Ukrainian people is even greater because of experience with the Kosovo war.
There's another symbol we can't sit back! It is not the case that that even Russia, Serbia and Kosovo are on that very road! It's important to speak with symbols. But you need to speak properly, you need to do the right thing, and make the right gestures for the benefit of a person. It is a symbolic sign of friendship the name of Ukraine's Heroes Street. Veliaj said the Republic of Albania, following its support policies towards Ukraine, proposed a joint resolution with the United States of America to condemn the Russian attack in Ukraine. “In this situation, such as the European Capital of Youth, inspired by many young men and girls, but also full of ordinary citizens, we have decided not to be indifferent! So we have joined forces in a solidification to gather and send as much assistance to Ukrainians, why not to wait for them with open hearts if necessary, just as the 1500 families of Tirana have already presented their willingness to offer them in all forms of friendship, but also the courage they so desperately need in these moments.
