Former American Ambassador to Kosovo, Tracy Ann Jacobson, had declared that her country cannot establish normal reports with Vetevendosje Movement, unless it changes violent tactics.
In an interview in Klan Kosova, the American diplomat had first shown the contents of a letter long ago Chairman of Vetevendosje Albin Kurti has sent to former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
There, according to her, he threatened Kosovo's great friend.
We have contacts at working levels. Reasonable people may disagree. But I cannot agree with threats and violence tactics”, she has declared.
I've got a very good letter from Mr. Kurt just took office as an ambassador and as such I thought I'd have a fresh access to this movement. But at almost the same moment, I also saw the letter that he (Albin Kurti) had sent to Mrs. Madeleine Allright, my former boss, where he threatened that he and his friends and family would face her on the street if she would come to Kosovo”, the Jacobson ambassador added.
It also said that Vetevendosje must change.
I don't agree with violent demonstrations and threatening letters. If this were to end then we would review our approach towards them”, she said.
Below, you have a part of the former American ambassador's interview in Kosovo, Tracy Ann Jacobson:
We remember that today at 84 years of age, the first former US secretary of state and great friend of Albanians helped lead Western foreign policy after the Cold War.
Albright was a central figure in President Bill Clinton's administration, first served as US ambassador to the United Nations before becoming the country's top diplomat in its second term. It defended NATO enlargement, prompted the alliance to intervene in the Balkans to prevent genocide and ethnic cleansing, tried to reduce the spread of nuclear weapons and defended human rights and democracy across the globe.
Albright is known for its key role in the negotiations in Rambouillet between the Albanian and Serbian sides, which precedes the NATO bombing campaign in Serbia.
In downtown Pristina, in a square bearing the name of former American secretaries, is also its bust, in honour of Mrs. Albright's role in Kosovo's liberation 22 years ago.
Grieving Kurt for Albright's death: We'll miss you, Madam Secretary.
