Tahiri at a media conference said that from two decades since the Kosovo Parliament was established this is the first time a political party blocks the founding of an investigative commission.
The “never in the past, no Parliamentary Group has ever happened to refuse to shed light on what possible abuses it could have taken place by any institution, whoever it is. The Republic of Kosovo has a history of parliamentary investigations. Parliamentary investigation is of an instrument of the opposition regulated by law.”, he added.
Tahiri stressed that for the formation of the parliamentary investigative commission on the energy crisis, there has been an agreement between the Parliamentary Groups to propose names and then proceed with proceeding further to the Assembly.
“Today I also demanded that we not have an argument on this issue, but that the commission be voted and then shed light on all allegations that have occurred during this period. It is noteworthy that during this period close to 200m euros have been spent on citizen taxes, and exactly our request and other opposition parties was to shed light on how these taxes were managed, where they went, who benefited from them, who companies have been buying electricity in the name of the Republic of Kosovo.”, he said.
The PDK warns that it will initiate the establishment of a parliamentary investigative commission through other forms to bring to light all abuses that have been made during the energy crisis.
“Today, the Kurti Government has opened a debate over a very large corrupt relationship, which today tried by vote, but the opposition has other instruments for establishing this commission. As you know, parliamentary law allows the opposition to establish such a commission with 40 signatures.”, Tahiri stressed.
