The US, Britain, France, Ireland, Norway and Albania requested the meeting, diplomatic sources report, following the increase in bombings to civilian areas in recent days.
The US, Great Britain and France are permanent members of the council along with Russia and China.
Discussions are also being held to create a case for Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky to speak at the UN General Assembly, which consists of all member states, writes the BBC, broadcast Clankosova.tv.
