National Guard chief Viktor Zolotov, speaking at church services led by Orthodox Patriarch Kiril on Sunday blames Ukrainian right forces are hiding behind civilians for the slower than expected progress, an accusation that has been made repeatedly by Russian officials.
His comments came after Friday's assessment by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, who told Putin that “everything is going according to plan”.
