Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov's comments, reported by Sky News and BuzzFed Nesa, will likely boost fears of a possible escalation in the Ukrainian conflict, writes The Guardian.
Ryabkov said Russia had made its position clear to the US.
He said Russia “warned the US that sending weapons from a number of countries that it orchestras is not only a dangerous move, it is an act that makes them legitimate targets”.
Denouncing US sanctions against Moscow, he said they were an unprecedented “attempt to give a serious blow to various sectors of the Russian economy”.
But he insisted Russia did not intend to expel the media and Western businesses, adding: “We will not scale the situation”.
