After the US, Russia exports mostly weapons, or about 20% of the global arms sales. Between 2016 and 2020, Moscow has sold $28 billion in weapons for 45 countries, writes Aljazeera, broadcasting Express.
Russia exports nearly 90% of weapons to 10 states. The biggest client is India, which has bought 23% of Russian weapons for $6.5 billion for the past five years. Half of India's arms import or 49.3% comes from Russia.

China is Russia's second largest arms buyer with $5.1 billion followed by Algeria at 4.2 billion, Egypt at $3.3 billion and Vietnam at 1.7 billion, according to the Stockholm International Institute of Peace Research.
Russia exports various kinds of weapons, including aircraft, motors, rockets, armoured vehicles and air defence systems.
The planes make up 48.6% of Russian arms exports. Between 2016 and 2020, Russia has sent 400 Sukhoi and Mig to at least 13 states, meanwhile, India has bought half of them.
India is also one of the six countries in the world that operates the nuclear energy submarines it rented from Russia.
The most famous AK-47 weapon is the standard infantry weapon for over 100 countries.
But how much Russia spends on weapons
Russian military spending has increased significantly over the past three decades. In 2020, Moscow spent about 62 billion dollars (4 per cent of its GDP) on its army.
The Russian arms industry consists of about 1,300 companies employing about two million people. The largest of these companies is Rostec, founded in 2007 by President Vladimir Putin.
