Why was rhetoric between Kosovo and Serbia toughened in the last 24 hours? Periscop explains

Ljiljana Stefanovic's resignation from the job of chairman at the Constitutional Court in Mitrovica, following attending a meeting with Vuciqi in Belgrade, has exacerbated the rhetoric between Kosovo and Serbia. The latter says this is a step towards armed conflict. How serious are these statements? How should we treat them as citizens? [...]

The QUINT states and the European Union have urged Kosovo and Serbia today to refrain from any rhetoric or action that could increase tensions. In a statement, they have expressed concern over the danger of escalation of the situation in Kosovo with the launch of protests warned in several Serb majority cities. Today's call comes after warnings of demonstrations in the north.

The citizens have the right to a peaceful gathering as well as the responsibility to ensure that such gatherings are peaceful and do not become violent. Among our common democratic values are the right to peaceful gatherings and for our voice to be heard, rights that law enforcementists are responsible for protecting. Order forces have the obligation to maintain public order and must do so without violating the democratic principles of free speech and rally”, the published statement said.

How did harsh Kosovo rhetoric arise, especially in the last 24 hours?

The president of the Constitutional Court in Mitrovica, Ljiljana Stefanovic,'s suspension after attending a meeting with Vuciqi in Belgrade has prompted the Serbian president to come out with a video he called urgent, where he said in part that Albin Kurti has decided to attack Serbia.

With his decision, he intends to attack Serbs everywhere. But whatever you do, Serbia is with its people”, Vuciqi said, among other things.

After that, Serbia's so-called defence minister, Alexander Vulin, also spoke, where he said he is the step of Serbia's involvement in armed conflict with Kosovo.

“This is the first step towards Serbia's involvement in the armed conflicts in Kosovo, which Albanians (Vulin has used the insulting term “shiptar) are preparing”, Volin.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, in many interviews, has cited the risk facing Kosovo from Serbia following the situation in Ukraine. Meanwhile last night on Descu's show at KTV, Kurti also spoke of 10 extremist organisations operating in Kosovo, referring to sources from security institutions in the country (including AKI) organisations which, according to the prime minister, are linked to Belgrade and Moscow.

For journalist Dukagji Gorani, using such language from two states, if we were to take it as truth that he believed we should take, then we are one step ahead of armed conflict.

“Vukiqi is serious that the Brussels Agreement is over, and according to him, Kosovo intends to hit Serbia. On the other hand, you have Kosovo's prime minister saying there are 10 extremist Serb organisations in Kosovo, so if that's true and we're going to get real as they're being told by the prime minister, with two truths being told tonight by Vuciqi and Kurti, what we do as residents, according to the fact that we're a step ahead of the armed conflict with Serbia”, Goradney said at the Pressing Report show in T7, Periscope follows.

For journalist Parim Oluri, if there are 10 extremist organisations in Kosovo, operating dependent on Moscow and Belgrade, then, as he puts it, “na has ash inside”.

If I'm operating 10 extremist organizations, they have a ashes of corn, but I'm going to let them vote in April”, there's Tell Oluri.

Is there another option on how these statements can be interpreted?

Dukagjin Gorani says there is a second option, which gives it this way:

There's also a second option, these statements with false, electoral, empty rhetoric and formal public positions. If that's the second, then both of these people, each in their own field of activity, were supposed to convince the electorate and the population not to take them seriously. Even now, many people in Kosovo don't know how much to take our prime minister and the president of a country seriously. In the Balkan countries, however, you do not know whether to take seriously a man who has the most important position in society. Then if you have to take it seriously, then what you're saying is alarming”, Gorani said.

Where the rhetoric exactly ends, even such behavior means the formality of a certain alarm, where exactly what you want is true, serious and above all responsible. When the outbreak of deterioration begins, we come to a night what is tonight, tonight we have two statements of both state heads that are creating the impression that their societies are so close to an armed conflict”, Gorani said.

Regarding the QUINT communiqué, Prime Minister Kurti said it was tough enough, but that if he was to make a decision differently from the one he made for the Serbian elections, he would have to sue himself.

“It is better to take sharp criticism from me, but not to allow the country's constitutionality and sovereignty not to be violated than I to accept parallel records and thus citizen Albin Kurti to sue Prime Minister Albin Kurti for breaking the law in Kosovo, the prime minister said last night. /Periscope.
