Shoigu has not been seen in the last 12 days and an old photograph of him has appeared on TV, opposition media reports reported.
On March 18th, Shoigu, 66-year-old, was mentioned in a report on a Kremlin website saying he and Putin had discussed the progress of the special operation in Ukraine with permanent members of the Russian security council.
But his photos and videos haven't been seen. His relatives have said he was ill at heart, Agentstvo news agency a close source with the minister told him.
Shoigu is viewed as a more reliable and close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The event comes at the time when the nervous Putin has launched a witch's trial against his closest circle in finding the guilty responsible for failing his war strategy.
