Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu said the agreement would benefit both countries and strengthen bilateral relations.
Our common goal is to finalise this agreement as Minister Haekkerup mentioned soon. We plan as early as next month, or as early as May, we have still set the date when this agreement will be finalised and prosecuted in the two countries' assemblies. It is important that this agreement be finalised as soon as possible. Then some renovations will take place at the detention center in Gjilan, that's the deal we've made during this time. As it needs such renovations and then when the centre is ready we are obliged to announce Denmark's Kingdom and gradually bring the prisoners to Kosovo”, Haxhi said at the joint media conference with counterpart from Denmark's Kingdom, Nick Haekkerup.
Such an agreement will enable us to be more vocal on issues like visa liberalisation and other issues related to the EU and NATO. At this time, now when the world is found in great trouble, it is important for us to see Kosovo's commitment and strong commitment towards NATO, the EU and wants to be part of Western European values. This agreement will enable us to protect Kosovo's interests in various areas, including the aspect of visa liberalisation. I understand it's a matter of importance and a topic will be discussed in Denmark” he said after Kosovo Preress's question.
The ministry also spoke of yesterday's action of state institutions on raising the price of food oil.
Kosovo's “government strongly condemns all manipulations and frauds that are made with prices of basic products for consumers, as well as derivatives. As we saw yesterday there was a mobilization to stop these frauds. Yesterday I called on the police and prosecutors to address this serious concern for citizens”, she said.
In December 2021, Kosovo has signed a letter-to-face agreement with Denmark for the rent of 300 prison cells in the country. / KP
