Prices hike in Kosovo, Haliti: Unaffordable situation

The economic situation in Kosovo is starting to deteriorate greatly after price hikes. While the prices of oil, flour, oil and many other products have increased markedly, the head of the municipality of the Year, Sokol Haliti, has said this situation has weighed down the lives of citizens and that the government must take measures. First [...]

The first of the Year's price hikes call it meaningless, as salaries in Kosovo cannot afford this problem.

The raising of the price of bread and flour is really unforgivable and other basic products, oil and other products. Now we have the rise of the price of oil and really meaningless and on the other side... and now we have a block of companies, even a real development and construction mission in infrastructure, construction and the entire developmental cycle in Kosovo will stop if this trend continues, so here we have to stop the basic articles, it's flour, it's wheat, flour products, on the other hand, iron oil, and others that really all the cycle has blocked, and these are the basic products that need to be intervenated<>

He says citizens are the ones who suffer in connection with this problem.

But it's a fucked-up situation. It's completely unstopped. I can even say the market and it's heavy on the social aspect and it directly affects citizen interest and citizen basket. It's worried about us as citizens too, but even for us as mayor, it's really unaffordable this situation, which is happening for the citizen of Kosovo and of the Year”, he said.

Haliti adds that for this problem the government must take measures.

I have met business and citizens are in daily contact, and it's really a big disappointment, but it's also a wonder, even though at a global level the situation has changed and in Kosovo it's actually a situation except from all because here within the day it changes the price of derivatives or any article that really is untainable, it should be seen and the state should take care of the measures and take its own role, and the Inspectorate also”, he tells Kosovas Presas.

Haliti says that the price price hike is negatively affecting the country, according to him, only depleting the citizen.

“Yes, it certainly affects negatively, it affects citizens who are particularly employed and leave those who are unemployed and their number is big enough, and Government under the rules and laws should but has the opportunity to make relief measures like other states are doing, like Albania has taken measures yesterday, Croatia and many other countries, so this is the government's job, and it's a matter of the state being able to come up with citizens in times of crisis, and because it's in times of crisis, Halik.

Haliti also mentions the law of wages that, according to him, this law has had to be implemented in a long time.

It's been urgent to get the law into force, to start a lot earlier to implement, but it's already become old-fashioned, and that law actually has a trend that's going on with market imbalance I can say and prices that have been done recently, so it's good to take sweeping measures everywhere and controlling measures in one respect but also pay increases on the other, and also packages of stimulus for... Social”, he said

Meanwhile, at the continuation of the country's price hikes, even various bus companies have taken such steps, raising prices inexorably.
