Price hikes, PDK calling for Government: Avoid Arrogant Watch and Reason

The deputy head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Uran Ismaili, at a media conference has sharply criticised Kosovo government for failing to act and delay in response to the crisis that has engulfed citizens from rising prices. Ismaili said that current power has shown disregard for two successive crises, energy and growth [...]
Ismaili said that current power has shown disregard for two successive crises -- energy crises and unaffordable price hikes -- ignoring warnings from the opposition, civil society and international analyses.
“We remember that the chairman PDK, Memli Krasniqi warned the Kurti Government of energy prices several months before they became a reality for the citizen. The same was true when he warned that the price of food products would increase dramatically.”, he said.
According to Ismaili, the Kurti Government, unfortunately, has taken the role of the spectator by becoming an observer, not an actist.
“E for worse, only constant reason. This government reduced the energy crisis to demand that citizens not play play play station, reasoning that the current is not stored in the refrigerator, and now the recommendation that citizens return flour to the oven. So no offers and demands are managed in the economy.”, Ismaili added.
He said for the first time in post-war history, Kurti Government will put Kosovo into economic recession.
Kosovo today has tremendous price hikes, where oil, bread, flour, etc., are being traded at prices that do not match Kosovo's citizen's financial opportunities. The current power is looking at this crisis from government buildings, while governments in the region and Europe are actively dealing with the creation and implementation of different policies, laws and actions to protect citizens from price hikes. In northern Macedonia, Croatia and wider, we have concrete actions that curb price hikes and protect family economies. ”, Ismaili stressed.
The PDK considers that the economic and social crisis, but also the uncertainty that the citizen of Kosovo is experiencing is over the daily party and political battle, and proposes that the Government of Kosovo take these steps to alleviate the crisis that has engulfed our citizens:
1. Distract the applied excise on oil import for a three-month period
2. VAT removal for essential goods such as flour, oil, salt and sugar by 1 July
3. VAT removal for all raw materials in agriculture sector by 1 October
4. VAT removal for raw materials for local commodity producers by September 1st
5. The launch of a 3-month BQ programme by June 1st for citizens who cannot afford price hikes
6. To support grain suppliers and other essential products to approach international markets
7. All Kosovo embassies are obliged to establish contacts to provide raw materials for local producers and essential goods for citizens.
Even today when the crisis strikes Ukraine, the citizen pays the government's bill Kurti observes and reasons. So, like many other times today, we call on them and ask for the current power not to continue with arrogance and reasoning, but to understand the citizens' sorrows and to hear their demands.”, Ismaili stressed.
