Pentagon: Ukraine is being protected with great wisdom, skill and creativity

Kirby has said Ukraine has defended parts of the country “very clever, very clever, very creative”, the BBC reports.

Kirby has further said that Ukrainians are going a little more into offensive in an effort to regain their territory.

“We have seen indicators that Ukrainians are going a little more on offensive now”, he said. “We have now seen them in places, especially south near the Kherson, [where] they have tried to regain territory”, reports the BBC.

On the other hand, Kirby said the Russians didn't achieve any targets that they set -- or certainly not without losses.

“Ukrains are making a very harsh defense. The Russians have not achieved any of the strategic goals that they have set or, of course, not without losses”, he said. / PERISCOP
