The real victims of war are people who have nothing to do with conflict and whose lives have been turned upside down by war. After crossing the border from their homeland, they have suddenly lost everything related to their existence”, he told CNN.
Turnley, through his match, has shared everything he saw.

While I looked into the eyes of Ukrainian refugees, who had just crossed the border between Ukraine and Poland, I saw pride, dignity, and courage. And surprisingly, an amazing degree of resistance”.
Turnley said most Ukrainians leaving the war are women and children, as men under the age of 60 are forbidden to leave the country.
“They are separated from their husbands, fathers, sons and brothers and have no idea when they can return home”, he told CNN.

Even under these very difficult circumstances, the photograph said that he had seen many examples of man - made.

The only bright lights I see are these loving and compassionate gestures I see as family members show to each other while awaiting a very unknown fate”, he continued.
