“I see no diplomatic solutions in the following hours or days”, Macron said, during a conversation with reporters in Versailles, ahead of a European Union leaders' summit, which will address the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the solution to continued electricity growth and independence from Russian gas and oil supplies, writes the newspaper Express.
Putin had introduced the conditions for resolving the situation in Ukraine, including the demilitarisation and denization of Ukraine, its neutral status and recognition of the Russian Crime by Kiev.
Macro has shown no hope that a ceasefire agreement will be reached in Ukraine over the next hour.
“Definitely, I'm optimistic but I also have to be realistic”, he said.
Macro has also spoken of Ukraine's request for quick EU membership.
With a country at war? I don't think so... but should we close the door and say "crowd"? That would be unfair”, Macron said.
According to Macron, the war in Ukraine “is human, political and humanitarian tragedy”. He has said this event will lead to the redefining of the positions and policies in Europe.
