Kurti for Italian newspaper talks about war in Ukraine, risk for Balkans

When you look at his neighbour across the border, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti does not see Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq: he sees “a Kremlin doll” in the government of a country that <x2 minus Russia”. He sees an attempt to destabilise the Balkans by “repeating Russia's” model. So writes the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, which [...]
Kurti spoke of Serbia's connection to Russia, saying “B RSS has become an octopus with the Russian Federation in central and its tentacles” such as Donbasi, Crimea, Transnistria and South Ossetia.
“The former Yugoslavia is an octopus with Serbia in the centre, the Serbian entity in Bosnia, a political subject in Montenegro that does not recognise its independence and illegal structures in northern Kosovo”, Kurti has said.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has shaken Kosovo, but Kurti said he is not surprised. According to him, Putin “does not want to sit down to negotiate with Zelenskiyn”, as, as Kurti says, “ai wants to do it with Biden”.
He feels Stalin and sees his Roosevelt in Biden”, Kurti said, adding that Putin “wants to rewrite history”.
The war in Ukraine, where it is not achieving major results, will not be enough for it: it will have to expand it if it wants to deal with Beden. That's why we're worried: The Western Balkans is a region where it can try to do it and it can use chemical weapons as it has already done in Syria”, Kurti said.
Showing that the states around Kosovo, except for Serbia, are members of NATO, Kurti indicated that Kosovo is targeting it as well, stressing that “we account for the assistance of Italy”.
Kosovo's prime minister said Serbia “wants money from European and Russian weapons”.
And Russian gas, which you get at a convenient price, but actually very expensive: to be the Kremlin doll. Last year, Kosovo participated with 350 soldiers in NATO's largest exercise, Defender Europe 21. Serbia instead participated with Russia and Belarus in “saved Slavic””, he said.
Serbia, as if Russia of Belarus “have medieval myths, panslas and very dark”, Kurti said. “They accuse you of treating the Serb minority as they were accused Ukrainians of pro-Russians in Donba. President Putin likes to undermine NATO's intervention to justify Russian hegemony”.
Kurti also commented on the fact that Putin mentioned Kosovo to justify the invasion of Ukraine.
“We had elections in Kosovo and a referendum during the Serbian occupation, but the referenda in Crime and Donba were very different -- the ballot boxes were in the hands of the Russian armed soldiers. Then it was the UN and the International Court that made it clear that independence does not violate international law”.
Kurt estimates that “has elements that can make us predict the future”. He spoke of Serbia's expenditures in arms, citing that there were “2 joint military programmes between Russia and Serbia”.
The Sputnik Centre in the Balkans is in Belgrade and 160km from Pristina is “Humanitarian Centre” Russia: they are the heart of the hybrid war in the Western Balkans, and as we have seen, this is not the replacement of the war -- it is its preparation”, Kurti has indicated.
